A. Using this website
In short
Opening this site creates no connection to third parties, with one exception. There are no analytics tools such as Google Analytics, no advertising networks and no consent banners. The exception is the map on the contact page: it is loaded straight away and transmits your IP address to Google.
This is not an end in itself. Anyone opening a page about obesity treatment reveals something about their health. That information should not flow to third parties before anything has even been clicked.
Server logs
For technical reasons the web server records on each request: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the referring page, and browser type and operating system. This serves to deliver the site correctly, keep it running and secure, and in the event of an attack to provide law enforcement with the necessary information. The data is not combined with other data and is deleted afterwards.
Cookies and local storage
This site sets no cookies for analytics or advertising. No audience measurement takes place, with or without cookies.
Your browser stores one thing locally: if you close the notice strip above the header, it remembers that so the strip does not reappear on every page. The entry contains no personal information, is not transmitted, and disappears when you clear your browser data.
Fonts
Fonts are served from our own server. There is no connection to Google Fonts.
Videos — only after you click
Videos in the media library are loaded only when you click them. Preview images do not come from third-party servers either. The click creates a connection to youtube-nocookie.com; YouTube then receives your IP address and device information, possibly on servers abroad. Before the click, none of this happens.
Directions map
The contact page embeds a Google Maps map that is loaded when the page opens. Google then receives your IP address and device information, including on servers abroad. The "Open in Google Maps" link below the map also leads to Google. The address is shown next to it for copying.
BMI calculator
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your height and weight are neither transmitted nor stored.
Appointments
Appointments cannot be booked through this website. After your registration or referral you receive an email from us with a personal link for your appointments. The booking provider's privacy policy applies to bookings made through that link.
For the evaluation for surgical treatment we link to ViszeraMed. If you follow that link, their privacy policy applies.
Newsletter
The newsletter is aimed at professionals. Your address is used solely for sending it and is not passed on. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Contact by email
If you contact us by email or phone, we use your details only to handle your request. Our address adimed@hin.ch is a HIN address: messages from a professional's HIN account are end-to-end protected. Ordinary email is not — please do not send confidential medical information this way; call us instead.
Links to other websites
This site links in a few places to other providers, such as medcram or ViszeraMed. We have no influence over their content or privacy policies.
B. Treatment at our practice
Collection and purpose
We process your data on the basis of the treatment contract and legal requirements, in order to treat you and meet the associated obligations. The data is collected by your treating physician. With your consent we also receive data from other physicians and health professionals who have treated or are treating you.
Your medical record contains only data connected with your treatment: personal, contact and insurance details from the patient form, and among other things informed-consent discussions, histories, diagnoses, findings and treatment proposals. This data is subject to medical confidentiality (Art. 321 Swiss Criminal Code).
Retention
We keep your personal data for as long as our contractual and legal obligations require. Your medical record is kept for 20 years after your last treatment. After that it is kept longer only with your express consent, or securely deleted or destroyed.
Disclosure
We pass your personal data, in particular medical data, to third parties only where the law permits or requires it or where you have consented:
- to your health insurer, or to accident or disability insurance, to bill the services provided — to the extent required by law;
- to cantonal and federal authorities (e.g. the cantonal medical service) where there is a legal duty to report;
- in individual cases and with your consent, to other authorised recipients such as laboratories or co-treating physicians.
Withdrawing consent
You may withdraw consent you have given, in whole or in part, in writing at any time. Once we receive your withdrawal and the processing has no legal basis other than consent, we stop it. Processing carried out lawfully until then is unaffected.
C. Your rights
Under data protection law you have several rights. To exercise them, please contact us at the address above.
Access, inspection and copies
You may request information about your personal data at any time, inspect your medical record or receive a copy. A copy may incur a fee; we will tell you the cost in advance.
Data portability
You may ask us to hand over data we process digitally, to you or to a health professional of your choice, in a common machine-readable format — as far as technically feasible.
Rectification
If you believe your data is incorrect or incomplete, you may request correction. If neither accuracy nor inaccuracy can be established, you may have a note of dispute added.
